In 2001 Pandit Anand Thakore founded Kshitij, an interactive forum for musicians, devoted to the spirit of the live Hindustani ‘mehfil’. Kshitij was founded in collaboration with vocalists Sanjeev Chimmalgi, Kedar Bodas, Krishna Bhat and Tabla accompanist Rupak Kharvandikar.

The group has organized concerts of senior and younger artists in semi-private soirees as well as public auditoriums. It also functions as a musicians’ salon, repeatedly creating space for interaction between musicians, connoisseurs,critics and musicologists
